How to teach it

  • 1Everyone matches a man; the free safety plays deep middle over the top of everyone.
  • 2Play man with inside leverage since you have a single-high player over the top.
  • 3Backers covering backs must be ready for the swing/flat and stay attached.

Common mistakes to fix

  • !Defenders lose their man on crossing routes; fix by teaching a trail technique and communicating picks.
  • !Free safety cheats to one side and gets beaten over the top the other way; fix by teaching him to stay square and centered.
