How to teach it

  • 1Tackles pinch to inside shades of the guards to shrink the A and B gaps against power teams.
  • 2Get pad level low and win with leverage; the tighter front is about knocking blockers back.
  • 3Linemen use hands and hips to hold ground, not just penetrate past the block.

Common mistakes to fix

  • !Getting too narrow and giving up the edge; fix by keeping ends firm on the C-gap.
  • !Linemen standing up and getting driven; fix with low-pad hit-and-shed drills.
