Every position's job

QB

Catch the snap and hand to the back on the power path off tackle.

RB

Take the handoff off tackle behind the pulling guard, reading the kickout and lead.

Playside Guard

Down-block the first inside defender.

Backside Guard

Pull and lead through the hole onto the linebacker.

Playside Tackle

Down-block the defender inside.

Backside Tackle

Hinge or scoop to protect the backside.

TE

Down-block inside to widen the hole.

WB

Kick out the end man on the line of scrimmage.

How to teach it

  • 1Wing kicks OUT the end man; backside guard pulls to lead UP through the hole; tackle down-blocks.
  • 2Back is patient behind the pull, then cuts vertically off the lead block.
  • 3Build the wall with the down blocks before the back arrives.

Common mistakes to fix

  • !Wing logs instead of kicks — teach him to kick out and stay square.
  • !Pulling guard runs past the hole — turn up tight off the down block.
