26 Power
Tailback takes the direct snap and runs off-tackle behind double-team and pulling guards to the strong side.
Concept: Playside tackle and end down-block, both guards pull to lead through the off-tackle hole with the wingback kicking out the end.
Grows with your players
Same play, more layers as they age up — teach it once and build on it every season for a consistent program.
- 8UIntroduce: Nail the snap/exchange, aim the right hole, and finish downhill.
- 10UAdd the lead: Add the pulling guard(s) leading through the hole.
- 12UAdd the edge: Add the kickout block and run it to both sides.
- 14UMaster it: Run it fast both directions and check into it by defensive look.
Every position's job
Take the direct snap, aim for the off-tackle hole, and follow the double-team and pulling guards behind the wingback's kickout.
Fill or fake up the middle to hold the interior linebackers, or add a lead block through the hole.
Kick out the end man on the line of scrimmage to seal the off-tackle edge.
Serve as a blocking back — lead through the hole or seal the backside pursuit.
Down-block the first inside defender, forming the double-team at the point of attack.
Down-block inside with the tackle to create the double-team.
Pull and lead through the off-tackle hole, blocking the first linebacker.
Pull behind the playside guard and wrap up through the hole to the second level.
Snap directly to the tailback, then block back on the backside gap.
Hinge and cut off backside pursuit.
How to teach it
- 1This is a direct-snap play — drill the long snap to the tailback until it's automatic.
- 2Teach the two guards to pull in sequence: first guard leads, second guard wraps.
- 3Wingback kicks out with his inside shoulder to widen the hole.
Common mistakes to fix
- !Guards collide while pulling — fix by staggering their pull paths, one leads and one wraps.
- !Tailback outruns the pullers — fix by teaching him to be patient behind the double-team.
