Double Reverse
Ball goes tailback to wingback to a second wingback, flowing back to the original strong side.
Concept: Linemen show sweep flow then peel back to wall off the backside as the ball changes direction twice.
Every position's job
Take the ball and hand to the first wingback, starting the reverse action.
Take the first handoff, then hand to the second wingback flowing back strong.
Fake the initial flow to sell the sweep.
Block the far edge or seal pursuit.
Show sweep flow, then wall off for the final direction.
Show sweep flow, then peel back to block backside.
Show sweep flow to sell the initial direction.
Snap the ball, then block back and cut off pursuit.
Peel back to wall off backside as the ball changes direction.
Peel back to block the backside pursuit.
How to teach it
- 1Linemen show sweep flow first, then peel back to wall off the backside.
- 2Two clean handoffs are required — drill both mesh points relentlessly.
- 3The ball ends up back on the strong side, so sell the misdirection fully.
Common mistakes to fix
- !Ball-handling errors on two exchanges — fix by practicing each handoff separately then together.
- !Linemen release too early and leave the backside open — fix by teaching the peel-back timing.
