Take the snap, spin, and hand to the crossing wingback attacking off-tackle, then carry out a fake.
Cross tight off the fullback's spin, take the handoff, and hit the off-tackle hole.
Block the backside or seal pursuit.
Down-block the first inside defender to seal the edge.
Down-block inside with the end to open the off-tackle hole.
Down-block or combo to secure the interior.
Block back or pull to the hole.
Snap to the fullback, then block back on the backside gap.
Hinge and cut off backside pursuit.
How to teach it
- 1Time the fullback's spin with the wingback's crossing path so the handoff is tight and hidden.
- 2End and tackle down-block together to open the off-tackle seam.
- 3Wingback runs tight off the fullback's hip to stay concealed.
Common mistakes to fix
- !Handoff timing is off and the wingback is early — fix by walking through the mesh at half speed.
- !Wingback runs wide of the down-blocks — fix by aiming him at the tackle's outside hip.
