Inside Zone / Bubble RPO Left
Quarterback reads the box and either hands the zone or throws the bubble.
Concept: Line run-blocks inside zone while the quarterback reads the overhang defender for the give-or-throw key.
Grows with your players
Same play, more layers as they age up — teach it once and build on it every season for a consistent program.
- 10UIntroduce: Nail the snap/exchange, aim the right hole, and finish downhill.
- 12UAdd deception: Add the fake/mesh — and a counter off the very same look.
- 14UAdd the pass: Add the play-action throw off this run action. Run it fast both directions and check into it by defensive look.
Every position's job
Ride the inside zone mesh, read the overhang defender, then give the zone or throw the bubble.

Zone-step playside and combo to the linebacker.
Zone-step and combo, climbing to the second level.
Zone-step playside, combo the nose, then climb.
Zone-block and combo the down lineman up.
Zone-block and cut off the backside.
Zone-block playside or climb.
Stalk-block for the bubble side.
Run the bubble as the throw option.
Run off or cut off backside coverage.
How to teach it
- 1Line run-blocks inside zone; the QB reads the overhang for give-or-throw.
- 2If the overhang crashes the box, throw the bubble; if he widens, hand the zone.
- 3Slot runs the bubble path ready to catch and get vertical.
Common mistakes to fix
- !QB reads too slowly and both options die — speed up the give-or-throw key.
- !Linemen drift downfield on the throw — keep them at the line to stay legal.
