Reach or block the playside interior defender.
Reach or scoop playside to seal the interior.
Reach or down-block the first inside defender.
Scoop and cut off backside pursuit.
Block the perimeter or arc to the second level.
Stalk-block the corner to spring the perimeter.
Block the overhang/alley defender.
Cut off backside coverage.
How to teach it
- 1Playside blocks the perimeter while the QB options the unblocked contain man.
- 2QB attacks the outside shoulder of the contain man to force a decision.
- 3Pitch back maintains a 4x1 pitch relationship, ready and square to the QB.
Common mistakes to fix
- !QB pitches too late or off-target — rep the pitch timing and trajectory.
- !Pitch back drifts too far ahead — teach the correct pitch relationship.
