88/99 Super Power
Fullback takes the handoff off-tackle behind a wall of pulling linemen and a lead wingback.
Concept: Playside blockers down-block while both guards pull to lead and the backside wing wraps through the hole.
Grows with your players
Same play, more layers as they age up — teach it once and build on it every season for a consistent program.
- 10UIntroduce: Nail the snap/exchange, aim the right hole, and finish downhill.
- 12UAdd the lead: Add the pulling guard(s) leading through the hole.
- 14UAdd the edge: Add the kickout block and run it to both sides. Add pre-snap motion to stress the defense's edge. Add the fake/mesh — and a counter off the very same look. Run it fast both directions and check into it by defensive look.
Every position's job
Take the handoff off-tackle and follow the wall of pulling linemen and lead wingback through the hole.
Take the snap, hand to the fullback, and carry out a bootleg fake to hold the backside.
Down-block or seal the edge at the point of attack.
Wrap through the hole and lead-block the linebacker at the second level.
Down-block the first inside defender to seal the off-tackle seam.
Down-block inside to help build the wall.
Pull and lead through the off-tackle hole, kicking out or leading.
Pull behind and wrap up through the hole to the second level.
Snap the ball, then block back on the backside gap.
Down-block or hinge to cut off backside pursuit.
How to teach it
- 1Both guards pull — one leads through the hole, the other wraps; drill the sequence.
- 2Playside blockers down-block together to build the wall at the point of attack.
- 3Backside wingback wraps tight through the hole to block the linebacker.
Common mistakes to fix
- !Guards collide while pulling — fix by staggering their pull paths.
- !Backside wing wraps too wide — fix by aiming him tight through the hole.
