Every position's job

QB

Run the option left, attacking the alley defender with the force man loaded, and pitch off the next perimeter defender.

B-back

Fake/fill the dive to hold the interior.

Playside Slot

Load (kick or block down) the pitch key/force man to clean the QB's edge.

Pitch Slot

Keep the pitch relationship.

Playside Tackle

Veer inside to the linebacker.

Playside Guard

Veer inside and combo.

Backside Tackle

Hinge to protect backside.

Frontside A-back

See playside slot load assignment above.

How to teach it

  • 1Mirror the load left; QB is isolated on the alley defender.
  • 2Slot kicks/loads the force man — rep the block so the edge is clean.
  • 3QB pitches off the next man, not the loaded defender.

Common mistakes to fix

  • !Slot loses leverage on the force man; fix with proper down/kick angle and inside-out fit.
  • !QB pitches too early; fix by teaching him to attack the alley man's inside shoulder first.
