QB Sneak
Quarterback surges straight ahead behind the center on short yardage.
Concept: Center and guards fire out low to create immediate push at the point of attack.
Grows with your players
Same play, more layers as they age up — teach it once and build on it every season for a consistent program.
- 6UIntroduce: Nail the snap/exchange, aim the right hole, and finish downhill.
- 8UMaster it: Run it fast both directions and check into it by defensive look.
Every position's job
Take the snap and surge straight ahead behind the center, staying low and driving for the first-down marker.
Add a shove/push on the QB or fill behind to keep the pile moving forward.
Fake a dive or fill behind the QB to add push.
Fire out low and drive the man over straight back, creating immediate push.
Fire out low and drive the interior man back, sealing the A-gap.
Fire out low and wall off the down defender.
Fire out low and seal the backside gap.
Down-block the end to keep him off the pile.
Release and screen off any second-level defender crashing inside.
How to teach it
- 1Coach pad level — lowest man wins, so everyone fires off flat and low.
- 2QB follows the center's block and picks the softest crease behind the double push.
- 3Snap must be clean and instant — no bobble on short yardage.
Common mistakes to fix
- !QB stands too tall and gets stopped — fix by teaching him to stay low and drive his legs.
- !Linemen stand up on contact — fix with a low-pad fit-and-drive sled drill.
