Stacked Left Sweep
F takes the pitch and sweeps the strong-side edge behind both pulling guards.
Concept: Both guards pull left — Y kicks the force defender, C and the backside tackle reach — and F reads the kickout to turn up the alley.
Grows with your players
Same play, more layers as they age up — teach it once and build on it every season for a consistent program.
- 10UIntroduce: Nail the snap/exchange, aim the right hole, and finish downhill.
- 12UAdd the lead: Add the pulling guard(s) leading through the hole.
- 14UAdd the edge: Add the kickout block and run it to both sides. Add the fake/mesh — and a counter off the very same look. Run it fast both directions and check into it by defensive look.
Every position's job
Take the snap, open to the left, and hand to F on the sweep path — then carry out a keep fake to hold the backside.
Take the ball on the move, let both guards clear, read Y's kickout, and cut up off the backside guard's lead.
Pull left and kick out the first defender outside Y (the force).
Pull left behind the kickout and turn up to lead-block the first linebacker.
Reach or scoop backside to seal the down lineman away from the pull.
Down-block the first defender inside to open the pulling lane.
Scoop backside and cut off pursuit down the line.
Kick out the force defender on the edge so F can turn the corner.
Stalk-block the defender over you to clear the perimeter.
How to teach it
- 1Both guards pull the same track — kick, then wrap up through.
- 2F presses the edge before cutting up; don't bounce early.
- 3Y's kickout sets the corner — everything turns off it.
Common mistakes to fix
- !F bouncing outside before the kickout is made.
- !Backside guard running flat instead of turning up.
- !Y logging the force instead of kicking it out.
