Every position's job

QB

Fake the belly to the fullback, pull the ball, and keep around the edge behind the wing's arc block.

FB

Run the dive fake hard into the line to hold the linebackers and defensive line.

HB

Carry out a fake away or pitch relationship to occupy the backside.

Playside Guard

Down-block the first inside defender.

Backside Guard

Block back to protect the backside.

Center

Block back on the nose or first backside threat.

Playside Tackle

Down or base-block to seal the inside.

Backside Tackle

Hinge or scoop to protect the backside.

TE

Down-block inside or release to the second level playside.

WB

Arc-block the force/contain defender to open the edge for the keep.

Split End

Stalk-block the corner downfield to clear the sideline.

How to teach it

  • 1Wingback arcs outside and blocks the force defender — this is the key block for the keep.
  • 2QB must sell the belly ride before pulling and getting downhill quickly to the edge.
  • 3Fullback's dive fake must look identical to Belly Right to freeze the defense.

Common mistakes to fix

  • !QB pulls too early and tips the keep — hold the ride a full count.
  • !Wingback blocks the wrong man (crashes inside) — teach him to find the widest contain defender.
