Belly Pass Right

Quarterback fakes the belly to the fullback then throws off the play fake.

Concept: Line shows run block then sets; wingback runs a corner and the split end runs a post over the top.

Every position's job

QB

Fake the belly to the fullback, set, and read the corner/post combination high-low.

FB

Run the belly fake off tackle to pull the linebackers and safeties up.

HB

Fake a run or check-release as an outlet.

Playside Guard

Show run block, then set to pass-protect the playside.

Backside Guard

Show run, then set to protect the backside.

Center

Show run block, then anchor the pocket over the nose.

Playside Tackle

Show run, then set to protect the edge.

Backside Tackle

Show run, then hinge to protect the backside edge.

TE

Show run then release, or help protect depending on the read.

WB

Run a corner route to stress the flat/deep defender.

Split End

Run a post over the top behind the corner route.

How to teach it

  • 1Line shows aggressive run block for one count, then sets — sell the belly first.
  • 2Wingback corner and split-end post form the high-low; QB reads the deep defender.
  • 3QB's belly fake and eyes must mirror Belly Right to freeze the secondary.

Common mistakes to fix

  • !Linemen get downfield illegally on the fake — teach them to fire out low, then settle at the line.
  • !QB stares down the post — teach him to look off with the fake and read the leverage.
