RunBest for: Base down
Buck Sweep Left
Halfback takes the handoff and follows two pulling guards around the left end.
Concept: Both guards pull left with playside guard kicking out and backside guard leading up through the hole.
Base alignment — schematic, not to scale
Every position's job
QB
Reverse pivot left, hand to HB, and fake away to the right.
FB
Fill for the backside guard and block the first backside threat.
HB
Receive the handoff, follow the pullers, and cut off the lead block.
Playside OL
Playside guard pulls left and kicks out the end man.
Backside OL
Backside guard pulls and turns up into the hole as the lead blocker.
Center
Reach playside and cut off backside pursuit.
TE
Down block to seal the playside edge.
WB
Block down on the linebacker or safety to the play side.
How to teach it
- 1Mirror the right-side reps so kids learn the play both directions.
- 2Emphasize the pullers hugging the down blocks to keep the alley tight.
- 3Coach the HB's aiming point just outside the tackle box.
Common mistakes to fix
- !Backside guard runs too flat and misses the linebacker; fix by teaching him to turn up sharply at the hole.
- !QB fake is lazy; fix by requiring a full carry-out fake every rep.
