Down 26 Power
Halfback runs power off tackle behind a pulling guard and the fullback's kickout.
Concept: Fullback kicks out the end man, backside guard pulls and leads through the hole, and the tackle down-blocks.
Grows with your players
Same play, more layers as they age up — teach it once and build on it every season for a consistent program.
- 6UIntroduce: Nail the snap/exchange, aim the right hole, and finish downhill.
- 8UAdd the lead: Add the pulling guard(s) leading through the hole.
- 10UAdd the edge: Add the kickout block and run it to both sides.
- 12UAdd deception: Add the fake/mesh — and a counter off the very same look.
- 14UMaster it: Run it fast both directions and check into it by defensive look.
Every position's job
Take the snap, open playside, and hand to the halfback on the power path off tackle.
Take the handoff, aim off tackle behind the kickout and pulling guard, and read the lead block.
Kick out the end man on the line of scrimmage to open the off-tackle hole.
Down-block the first defender inside.
Pull and lead through the hole onto the first linebacker.
Block back to seal the backside A-gap.
Down-block the defender inside to create the wall.
Hinge or scoop to protect the backside.
Down-block inside to help the down scheme and widen the hole.
Seal the edge or block the linebacker level.
Stalk-block the corner downfield.
How to teach it
- 1Fullback kicks OUT the end man; backside guard pulls and leads UP through the hole.
- 2Tackle and TE down-block to build the wall; back reads the down blocks and follows the guard.
- 3Halfback must be patient behind the pull, then cut vertically off the lead block.
Common mistakes to fix
- !Fullback logs instead of kicks (or vice versa) — teach him to kick out and stay square.
- !Pulling guard runs past the hole — teach him to turn up tight off the down block.
