Every position's job

QB

Take the snap, execute a counter fake/step, and hand to the halfback on the counter path.

HB

Take a counter step (jab away), then follow the pulling guard and tackle backside.

FB

Fake the flow to hold the linebackers.

Playside Guard

Down-block the first inside defender (line blocks down away from the pull).

Backside Guard

Pull and kick out the end man on the line of scrimmage.

Playside Tackle

Down-block the defender inside.

Backside Tackle

Pull and wrap up through the hole onto the first linebacker.

TE

Down-block inside to help build the wall.

Split End

Stalk-block the corner or run off the safety.

How to teach it

  • 1Backside guard kicks OUT the end man; backside tackle wraps UP through the hole.
  • 2Halfback jab-steps away first to hold the defense, then follows the two pullers.
  • 3Line down-blocks while the two pullers create the counter alley.

Common mistakes to fix

  • !Pulling tackle wraps too wide and misses the hole — teach him to turn up tight off the kickout.
  • !Back's counter step is too slow — the jab must be quick then downhill behind the pullers.
