Waggle Left (Boot Pass)
Quarterback fakes buck action right and boots back left off the flow.
Concept: Pulling guard leads to block the edge while the flood combination stretches the defense vertically.
Every position's job
Fake the buck action right, boot back left off the flow, and read the vertical flood.
Run the buck fake into the line, then leak as an outlet.
Fake the buck sweep right to sell the flow away from the boot.
Down-block or set the edge on the boot side.
Pull to the boot side to lead and block the edge/contain.
Block back and protect the interior.
Hinge-protect the boot-side edge.
Hinge to cut off backside pursuit.
Drag across underneath as the intermediate flood option.
Run to the flat as the short route.
Run the deep route to stretch the flood vertically.
How to teach it
- 1Pulling guard leads to block the contain man so the QB has a clean edge.
- 2The flood stretches the defense vertically — flat, intermediate, and deep must be spaced.
- 3QB reels the boot off the flow so the fake pulls the defense the opposite way.
Common mistakes to fix
- !Pulling guard is late and the contain man hits the QB — emphasize a quick, flat pull.
- !QB drifts too deep and can't set his feet — teach him to gain width, then square up to throw.
